Nano Technology

General Description

Nano is a unit of measurement that, in the metric system, looks like this:

1 x 10-9 m = 0.000 000 001m = 0.000 001mm










1 Helium atom for example has a diameter of 0.1nm.

In plasma science we talk about nano particles because these particles are so small that they can only be measured on the nano scale – like atoms inside a molecule. Nano particles are independent and dynamic; although they are bound by magnetic fields to their base material ( copper), they can reorient themselves within the layer they form.

Their independence also refers to temperature and pressure. In the material state, a change in temperature or pressure results in a change in the state of matter: a change in temperature changes a mass of water, for example from solid state (ice) to liquid. On the other hand, a temperature change alone cannot create nano-particles.

To cause the formation of nano-particles, a change in the plasma environment is necessary. The process of forming nano-particles is called nano coating.

Materials can be nano plated in three ways:

  1. Nano fire plating; using a torch
  2. Nano plating with caustic soda (NaOH = sodium hydroxide)
  3. Nano plating by plasma fields; using reactors, magravs, or capacitors
